Alabama woman accused of “swapping seats” during traffic stop

A Fort Payne, Alabama woman was arrested following a traffic stop early Wednesday on Alabama Highway at Barker Road.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

35-year-old Natasha Renea Slaton was stopped for going 64 in a 45-mile-per-hour zone.

She then swapped seats with a passenger and stated multiple times that she was not driving before admitting to swapping seats.

Suspected cocaine was then located during a search.

Slaton is charged with possession of a Schedule II Controlled substance, obstruction of officers, speeding, and driving with a suspended or revoked license.

Man charged with possession of items prohibited for inmates, and conspiracy

A Rockmart man is facing charges of conspiracy to commit a felony, and possession of items prohibited for inmates for an incident that occurred while he was incarcerated in the Floyd County Prison back in February of 2022.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

26-year-old Ronique Stevon Stripling attempted to obtain a cell phone at a work detail to be smuggled into the prison.

He was recorded on the prison’s phone system speaking with two co-conspirators.

One of those, Keyonia Stripling, packaged a cell phone and charger, along with more than 55 grams of tobacco and rolling papers inside a Pringle’s canister and placed it at the Bartow County Recycling Center for retrieval.
