Woman charged with bribery
A West Rome woman is accused of attempting to bribe her way out of going to jail.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
42-year-old April Martin offered to give multiple law enforcement officers $1,000 if they would release her from custody without charges being filed.
She also refused to provide her name and date of birth to officers.
Martin is charged with bribery and obstruction of law enforcement.
Report: Homeless man swallowed meth
A homeless man was arrested on Redmond Circle Tuesday on drugs and weapons charges.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
30-year-old Gary Dalton Morgan possessed methamphetamine and admitted to swallowing it.
He was also in possession of a shotgun, syringes, and a glass smoking device.
He is charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of drug-related objects, and a probation violation.
Morgan was also arrested on a felony warrant for theft by taking a motor vehicle.
According to the warrant:
Morgan took a 2014 Chevy Traverse from a location on Shorter Avenue on November 3.
Meanwhile, 34-year-old Benjamin Caleb Waits of Silver Creek, who was operating the vehicle that Morgan was a passenger is, was also arrested and charged with possession of meth and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Woman accused of stealing over $63,000
A 48-year-old Rome woman has been arrested on a felony warrant charging her with theft by taking.
According to the warrant:
Dianna Michele James took $63,551 from the victim between April 5 and May 31 of this year.
No additional information was included in the warrant.
The incident location was listed as a bank on Turner McCall Boulevard.
Employee accused of stealing from McDonald’s
A Rosemont Park man is accused of stealing around $200 in food from the East Rome McDonald’s.
According to an arrest warrant:
40-year-old Eugene Stonner Ashley took the food on November 2 as an employee.
He is charged with misdemeanor theft by taking.
Warrant: Man falsely claimed he was carjacked
An Adairsville man was booked into the Floyd County Jail Tuesday on a misdemeanor count of false report of a crime.
According to an arrest warrant:
22-year-old Westin Stephen Potter called 911 on July 15 and reported that he had been carjacked at gunpoint in the area of East Hermitage Road and Ireland Drive.
The vehicle that Potter claimed to have been stolen was found the next day, burned up, in Bartow County, and there were signs of arson.
The statements given to police about the carjacking were found to be false.
Man charged with battery, obstruction, aggravated stalking
A Calhoun man is facing charges in Floyd County after he allegedly slapped a man and ran from police.
According to jail records:
34-year-old Stephen Jarrod Washington also violated the terms of a conditional bond by having contact with a woman, resulting in a felony charge of aggravated stalking.
He is also charged with battery and obstruction of officers.
