Man arrested after allegedly making threats in West Rome

A 61-year-old Rome man was arrested after allegedly making threats at a couple of Shorter Avenue restaurants on Saturday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

James Henry Laster was under the influence of alcohol when he threatened to cut up patrons at King Claw while having a knife in his waistband.

He also threatened to kill the manager.

Laster also walked to the West Rome McDonald’s where he threatened to pick up and body-slam an employee there.

Once at the jail, Laster threatened an officer.

He is charged with four counts of terroristic threats and acts, as well as single counts of disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

Bartow County man arrested following car chase

A Bartow County man was booked into the Floyd County Jail early Sunday on a felony count of fleeing or attempting to elude.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

27-year-old Harley Wayne Adcock of White fled from Rome City Police and failed to stop at the red light on Georgia Loop One and Highway 53.

Adcock turned left onto Calhoun Road, traveling north at 103 miles per hour in a 55-mile-per-hour zone.

He also crossed the double yellow line to pass two vehicles.

Adcock was additionally charged with speeding, failure to obey a traffic control device, too fast for conditions, passing in a no-passing zone, improper passing, reckless driving, and failure to maintain a lane.

Alabama man charged in assault at Floyd County Prison

A former inmate at the Floyd County Prison has been charged in an assault that occurred at the facility on September 18.

According to an arrest warrant:

33-year-old Kendrick Deantay Flynn of Gadsden, Alabama was involved in a verbal altercation that turned physical.

He can be seen on the facility’s camera system striking another inmate in the face and knocking him to the floor of the dayroom.

Flynn then continued to strike and kick the man, who was then dragged into his dorm room where Flynn began kicking and stomping the victim once again.

At least three other inmates were involved in the assault.

After it was over, the victim was robbed of his store goods.

Flynn is charged with aggravated assault, unlawful acts of violence in a penal institution, and participation in street gang activity.

Report: Man facing charges after being found with suspected fentanyl

A 52-year-old Armuchee area man was jailed over the weekend on felony drug charges.

According to an arrest warrant:

Jimmy Lee Selman Jr. was found with a clear, plastic wrapper containing suspected fentanyl during a traffic stop on Wax Road on January 23.

Selman is charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, DUI, possession of drug-related objects, failure to maintain a lane, and a probation violation.

Man charged with possession of meth with the intent to distribute

A 38-year-old Rome man was arrested at his home on Hickory Street over the weekend after he was reportedly found with drugs, packaged for resale.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

The items included baggies of suspected methamphetamine and a prescription drug, along with a scale.

Randolph Nathaniel Crocker is charged with possession of meth with the intent to distribute.

Teen charged with felony obstruction of officers

A teenager is accused of fighting with police officers during an incident back on November 27.

According to the arrest warrants:

17-year-old Nathaniel Porter Kozelle damaged the wall of a home on Mitchell Circle by throwing his backpack at it and causing a hole.

As officers were attempting to place Kozelle under arrest, he attempted to flee on foot, refused to put his hands behind his back, and continued to pull away, eventually wrestling with the officers.

He is charged with 1st-degree criminal damage to property and felony obstruction of officers.
