Police are investigating the shooting death of a Rome man at a home on Pinson Road early Monday morning.
According to Floyd County Police Department reports:
Jamon Kenterius Allen, 20, of Rome, was killed by multiple gunshot wounds according to the Floyd County Coroner’s Office. He was declared dead at 8:26 a.m. Monday.
Allen was coming in the home when he was shot and there’s a potential that the incident was a case of mistaken identity.
“The call initially came in as a burglary,” Maj. Jeff Jones of the Floyd County Police Department said. “However, it appears that the shooter and the victim knew each other.”
The investigation is ongoing, Jones said. No charges had been filed as of Monday afternoon.
FCPD is also investigating another shooting incident Sunday evening at the Swan Lake mobile home community off Old Dalton Road in Armuchee.
Witnesses told police that a group of youths were outside when someone had a disagreement with another person in a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle drove through the crowd to disperse them, police said, and may have run over a person’s foot.
At that point, someone in the crowd opened fire, although police reported that it was unclear if they were aiming at the car or firing into the air.
As of Monday afternoon, no one had been hospitalized resulting from the incident.
