The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that Rome recorded an unemployment rate of 3.6 percent in February, up two-tenths over the previous month. A year ago, the rate was 3.2 percent.
“Jobs are growing, and so is Georgia’s future,” said GDOL Interim Successor Louis DeBroux. “With regional job growth across Georgia in February and the state’s unemployment rate holding steady at 3.6%—well below the national average—Georgia continues to prove itself as the #1 place where businesses and talent thrive.”
The labor force in Rome decreased by 28 over the month and rose by 160 over the year, reaching 48,223.
Rome finished the month with 46,487 employed residents, down 115 over the month and down 40 compared to the same time last year.
Rome ended February with 47,500 jobs. That number increased by 200 over the month and rose by 600 over the year.
In February, initial unemployment claims in Rome decreased by 486 over the month and were up by 93 compared to the same month last year, totaling 300.
