Rome has been the top metropolitan statistical area for job growth since 2020, according to numbers from the Georgia Department of Labor.

Rome-Floyd Development Authority CEO Missy Kendrick shared the news earlier this week with the authority board.

“That’s a feather in our cap,” she said. “You’ll see the other MSAs that we have been competing against and are ranked number one. Of course, it’s relative to size, but the calculations that they do are designed to take that into account. We are proud of this. Tell all your friends about it. We hope that we will continue to grow year-over-year. This is a big accolade for us.”

The Rome MSA boasted a 16.1 percent growth rate with Gainesville in second with a 15.3 percent rate.

Brunswick was third at 8.3 percent.

Athens-Clarke County was fourth at 6.8 percent.

Metro Atlanta was fifth at 6.3 percent, followed by Hinesville at 5.7 percent, and Warner Robins at 5.2 percent.

The stateside growth rate was 6.9 percent during the same period while the national growth rate was 4.7 percent
