Man accused of leading police on chase through neighborhoods

A Rockmart man is accused of fleeing from Rome Police early Wednesday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Police attempted to stop a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Cortavious Dytre Benham for failing to maintain a lane in the area of Shorter Avenue and Leon Street.

Benham fled, running five stop signs, and speeding through residential neighborhoods.

He then fled on foot after crashing his vehicle.

Benham is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, reckless driving, failure to maintain a lane, five stop sign violations, misdemeanor obstruction of officers, DUI, and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

Two charged with meth trafficking

Rome-Floyd Metro Task Force officers executed a search warrant at an apartment on Redwood Street Tuesday and arrested two people on methamphetamine trafficking charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Multiple bags of meth, digital scales, and a firearm were recovered.

In addition to trafficking, 45-year-old Corey Lashon Chatman Sr. and 35-year-old Jessica Noel Jackson are also charged with possession of meth, possession with the intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of drug-related objects, and a probation violation.

Woman accused of impersonating police

A Lindale woman has been arrested on a felony count of impersonating a police officer.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

34-year-old Chrystal Monique Dupree told a Floyd County Police Officer that she worked for the Rome Police Department.

The incident occurred Tuesday at a location on Redwood Street where a drug bust had just occurred.

Man facing aggravated battery charge

A West Rome man was jailed early Wednesday on a felony aggravated battery charge.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

26-year-old Jonatan Estuardo Anduarte gave the victim a black eye at a location on Burnett Ferry Road.
