Two injured after vehicle strike light pole at Goodwill

Two people were injured when a vehicle struck a light pole in the Goodwill parking lot on Hicks Drive Monday evening.

According to a Rome Police Department report:

Witnesses stated they saw a 2021 Toyota Supra exit a parking spot in the Home Depot Parking lot and then accelerate to a high speed.

The vehicle entered the Goodwill parking lot, where it struck the pole and an unoccupied vehicle.

The driver, an 80-year-old Rome woman told officers something malfunctioned in the car, causing the crash.

She and a 38-year old passenger were transported to Atrium Health Floyd for treatment.

The report stated that a small baggie of methamphetamine was found underneath the passenger’s breast at the hospital.

A warrant will be issued for her arrest, according to the report.
