For the second consecutive year, Atrium Health Floyd President Kurt Stuenkel has been included on Georgia Trend’s “GEORGIA 500” list of the state’s most influential leaders.
The comprehensive list reflects the innovation, vitality, and success of local leaders who drive the economy across the state.
Stuenkel has led the healthcare network since 1996 and has more than four decades of experience with the healthcare organization.
In 2024 he became the executive sponsor for advancing rural health in the Atrium Health Southeast Region.
He has also served as the board chair for Georgia Alliance of Community Hospitals, VHA Georgia, and Phoenix Healthcare. He is a past chair of the Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) and a former member of the Georgia Trauma Care Network Commission.
Stuenkel is a past chair of the local United Way of Rome and Floyd County as well as the American Red Cross northwest Georgia chapter, and he is a previous member of the board of the Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce.
Atrium Health Floyd includes four hospitals, Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center and Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center Behavioral Health in Rome, Atrium Health Floyd Polk Medical Center in Cedartown, and Atrium Health Floyd Cherokee Medical Center in Centre, Ala.
Atrium Health Floyd also operates a stand-alone emergency department in Chattooga County, which opened in October 2023.
This year also saw the combination of Atrium Health Floyd and Harbin Clinic, Georgia’s largest, physician-led, multi-specialty clinic.
