Man charged with child cruelty

-Floyd County Jail records-

A West Rome man has been arrested on a felony warrant charging him with 2nd-degree cruelty to children.

According to the warrant:

35-year-old Miguel Angel Gomez let his 14-year-old son ride on the running board on the outside of a transit van.

Gomez hit a bump on Sycamore Street causing the teenager to fall off and hit his head.

The teen suffered a seizure, a subdural hematoma, a traumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage, and loss of consciousness.

The incident occurred on November 13, 2023.
