Man accused of assaulting woman arrested

A 28-year-old Rome man has been arrested on a felony warrant charging him with aggravated assault.

According to the warrant:

Tawaun Marcel Howell put his hands around a woman’s neck and choked her to the point where she felt like she was going to die.

Also during the dispute, Howell hit the victim in the face, pulled her hair, and pulled her mouth, causing a laceration to her lip.

The victim also sustained scratches to her forehead and arms.

Howell is additionally charged with battery in connection with the incident that occurred on December 31 at his home on Royal Oaks Drive.

Alpharetta man arrested in the beating of a woman at a Rome hotel

An Alpharetta man is facing multiple charges following an incident at a hotel on Hobson Way off Highway 411 in Rome.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

47-year-old Darren Donow repeatedly kicked a woman and struck her with his hands.

The victim sustained large bruises over her face, arms, upper body, and around her eyes.

Donow also confined the woman in the hotel room for three days.

He also caused damage to the room and carpet.

Donow is charged with aggravated battery, false imprisonment, criminal trespass-damage to property, giving a false name or date of birth, and obstruction of officers.

Man facing drug charge

A man arrested on December 15 on charges of 2nd-degree burglary, criminal trespass and battery is facing an additional charge of possession of a controlled substance.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Suspected methamphetamine was found during the execution of a search warrant for a vehicle belonging to 26-year-old Alejandro Serrano of Rome.

The vehicle had been stored at a secure location following Serano’s initial arrest.
