Man charged with burglary
A 25-year-old Cave Spring man is charged with 1st-degree burglary and theft by taking following an incident Saturday on Tamassee Lane in Rome.
According to a Rome Police Department report:
Donterious Demontray Mayfield entered an apartment and took a PlayStation.
Mayfield reportedly told police that his cousin had stolen his PlayStation and pawned it, and he didn’t believe it was right. So, to make it right, he went to where his cousin stays to take a console.
Mayfield had also been previously banned from the property so he was additionally charged with criminal trespass.
Two arrested following traffic stop in South Rome
A traffic stop on South Broad Street Saturday ended with the arrest of two people.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Police stopped a vehicle driven by 33-year-old Tyrin Lamar Ferguson of Acworth for speeding and because of a headlight that was out.
It was then determined Ferguson was under the influence and he began to fight with officers as he was being arrested.
A search of the vehicle turned up multiple packages of cocaine, marijuana, and pills in an unlabeled bottle.
The pills included oxycodone and Adderall.
There was also an open bottle of tequila in the vehicle, along with a blue straw with cocaine residue.
A plastic baggie containing narcotics was found abandoned outside of the vehicle.
Ferguson and a passenger in the vehicle, 27-year-old Haley Brianna Thompson of Rockmart are both facing multiple charges.
Woman charged with financial transaction card fraud
A Rome woman was arrested over the weekend on charges of theft of lost or mislaid property and financial transaction card fraud.
According to an arrest warrant and Floyd County Jail records:
33-year-old Dawn Elaine Helms took possession of a lost or mislaid a debit/credit card and used it at the Armuchee Quick Stop on Martha Berry Highway to make a purchase for $23 on November 9.
Two charged with meth possession, tampering with evidence
Two Rome residents were arrested at a location on Park Avenue in Lindale Sunday on charges of possession of methamphetamine and tampering with evidence.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
44-year-old Benjamin Scott Ingram and 32-year-old Haley Ruth Kilgore were taken into custody after suspected methamphetamine was found dumped inside a soft drink can between the driver and passenger seat of their vehicle.
Man charged with meth possession
A 43-year-old Rome man was arrested late last week for possession of methamphetamine.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Elias Prieto Jr. was found with meth at a location on Shorter Avenue and Sherwood Road.
Man charged with possession of cocaine
A traffic stop for a tail light violation on Dean Avenue ended with the arrest of a Rome man for possession of cocaine.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
23-year-old Stefan Markel Thurman had suspected cocaine in his jacket pocket.
