A rezoning request for property at 4805 Huffaker Road was withdrawn by the applicant during Tuesday’s Floyd County Commission meeting.
The application to change the zoning on the 42-acre site from Agricultural Residential to Heavy Industrial came with a 5-1 vote to deny without prejudice from the Rome-Floyd County Planning Commission.
“On behalf of the Rome-Floyd County Development Authority, due to some potential changes, we would like to withdraw our rezoning request tonight,” said Missy Kendrick, president and CEO of the Rome-Floyd County Development Authority. “We ask you to take action without prejudice, please.”
Without prejudice means that the application can be reintroduced without having to wait 12 months.
In other action, the commission approved the hiring of Studio 8 Design as the architect for the Agriculture Center.
The ag center, which will be located behind Mt. Berry Mall, is being funded with money from the 2017 special purpose, local option sales tax.
It is scheduled to open in early 2025.
