Homeless man charged with assault

A homeless man was arrested Sunday on the trail off Riverside Parkway after allegedly chasing another homeless man while armed with a golf club.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

58-year-old Kenneth Bernard Chambers also threatened to kill the victim several times.

Chambers is charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats and acts, and a probation violation.

Man charged with aggravated battery, damage to property

A 35-year-old Rome man was arrested late last week following an altercation on Dugger Drive.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

35-year-old Justin Cory Poole pushed a woman into a door and kicked her in the back, leaving marks.

He also broke the victim’s right hand.

Poole also used a baseball bat to bust out the both passenger side windows and the windshield of her vehicle.

A door frame in the home was also damaged.

The incident was witnessed by a child.

Poole is charged with battery, aggravated battery, criminal damage to property, criminal trespass, and 3rd-degree cruelty to children.

Report: Man cashed fictitious check, attempted to cash another

A 44-year-old Rome man has been arrested on felony warrants charging him with printing, executing, or negotiating fictitious checks.

According to the warrants:

Timothy Carey Horton Sr. cashed a fictitious check for just over $422 at a convenience store on Burnett Ferry Road on August 2.

He also attempted to cash another bad check at another business on Shorter Avenue for just over $568 on August 12.

Horton is also charged with 4th-degree forgery.

Man accused of stealing $7,000 in jewelry from Walmart

A man from Columbus, Georgia has been arrested in connection with the theft of over $7,000 in jewelry from the East Rome Walmart back on August 7.

According to the arrest warrant:

41-year-old Alfred Demond Jenkins gained access to the jewelry stand and removed several items from the display case. He then put the jewelry in a trash can and later removed the labels and concealed them before leaving the store.

In addition to felony shoplifting, Jenkins was charged with criminal trespass for damaging the display case.

Man arrested on burglary warrant

A 66-year-old Rome man was arrested over the weekend on a felony warrant charging him with 2nd-degree burglary.

According to the warrant:

Gregory Najee Lee entered a business on Sheridan Drive in Rome and took several items valued at $460.

He also broke two windows.

Lee is also charged with a probation violation.

Report: Man found with meth at the jail

A homeless man is accused of having drugs while at the Floyd County Jail.

According to jail records:

31-year-old Jerry Allen Newberry was found with suspected methamphetamine.

He is charged with possession of meth, possession of drugs past the guard line, and a probation violation.

Aragon woman charged with meth possession

An Aragon woman is facing possession of methamphetamine charges following her arrest Saturday on Woods Road at Tolbert Drive.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

43-year-old Chastity Sheree Cagle has a white, crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine.

She was also charged with driving without insurance.
