Report: Man tried to run woman’s vehicle off the road

A 51-year-old Rome man was jailed Friday on charges of aggravated assault and hit and run.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Gary Don Holmes struck a woman’s car on Calhoun Road and tried to run her off the road.

He then fled the scene.

Man accused of trying to exchange drugs for gun

A Rome man is accused of trying to exchange THC edibles, a THC vape, and marijuana for a firearm.

According to the arrest warrants and Floyd County Jail records:

20-year-old Jason Michael Battaglia, who is a convicted felon, agreed to meet with another person to make the trade back on May 26.

He is charged with conspiracy to violate Georgia’s Controlled Substances Act, criminal attempt to commit a felony, and use of a communications facility to commit a crime involving drugs.

Man arrested for drug trafficking at hotel

A Rome man was arrested on drug trafficking charges following the execution of a search warrant at a room at the La Quinta Inn on Chateau Drive.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Rome-Floyd Metro Task Force Officers found 40-year-old Melvin Dewayne Ragland in possession of more than four grams of fentanyl, suspected oxycodone, an unknown white power, and unknown blue pills.

Ragland is also charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of drugs not in the original container, and six counts of contempt of superior court.

Adairsville man following traffic stop

An Adairsville man was arrested late last week on drug charges at Turner McCall Boulevard and North Fifth Avenue in Rome.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

50-year-old Darnelius Jermaine Hamilton had a small bag of cocaine and a marijuana cigarette in his vehicle.

He is charged with felony possession of cocaine and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

Lindale man facing drug charges

A 28-year-old Lindale man was jailed late last week on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of methamphetamine, and criminal use of an item with an altered identification mark.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Harley Dewayne Morris was found with a firearm with a serial that had been filed off at Landers Drive and Park Avenue.

A baggie of suspected methamphetamine was also found in his back pocket.
