Cherokee County Alabama Sheriff’s Office –
Deputies along with Cedar Bluff PD, Centre PD, and Leesburg PD responded to a shooting incident that occurred Saturday evening at a residence in the Blue Pond community near the intersection of County Road 48 and 662.
Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy, Josh Summerford, stated, that the the victim and the shooter were acquaintances.
Sheriff Summerford also stated that the victim suffered a gunshot wound to his leg, and the shooter fled the scene but was taken into custody shortly after.
The shooter has been identified as 38-year-old Joshua Jones of Centre AL.
Jones has been charged with Assault 1st degree and lodged in the Cherokee County Detention Center.
Sheriff Shaver stated, “I appreciate the cooperative efforts between our deputies, Cedar Bluff PD, Centre PD, and Leesburg PD that helped lead to the swift and successful apprehension of Jones.”
