Woman facing an auto theft charge

A Rome woman was jailed Tuesday accused of stealing a motor vehicle.

According to Floyd County Jail records, 24-year old Julie Evelyn Bodine was arrested at her Radio Springs Road home on the felony warrant.

In addition to auto theft, Bodine is also charged with misdemeanor hit and run and a felony count of failure to appear in court.

 

Report: Man made false statements regarding wreck

A 21-year old Rome man was arrested Tuesday on a felony warrant charging him with false statements and writings.

According to the warrant, Quran Shaheed McCain of a Fortune Street address called Rome Police on January 7 and said that he was in involved in a traffic accident on December 18 at the intersection of 2nd Avenue and Shorter Avenue.

McCain stated he was a passenger in the vehicle and sustained injuries that required medical treatment.

He also said he needed to be added to the accident report in order to file an insurance claim, according to the warrant.

Police say an investigation determined that the statements made by McCain were false.

 

Man charged with meth possession

A Cedartown man was booked into the Floyd County Jail Tuesday after police say methamphetamine was found in his watch pocket.

According to Floyd County Jail records, 50-year old Gary Earl Newberry was arrested at a location on Lee Street in Rome.

In addition to meth possession, Newberry is also charged with a parole violation.
