Man charged with fleeing from police

A 21-year old Rome man is facing a felony count of fleeing or attempting to elude.
According to Floyd County Jail records, 21-year old Contravious Devon Driver of a Bert Road address fled during an attempted traffic stop on Dempsey Road.
Driver reportedly continued on Bert Road, reaching speeds of 65 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone in a residential area.

Police say he then exited the vehicle as it was still moving and fled on foot.

The vehicle came to rest after striking a tree.

Drive was also charged with failure to yield while turning left, failure to maintain a lane, speeding and driving on a suspended or revoked license.
Man charged with exploitation of the elderly

A 54-year old man was jailed Monday on charges of 3rd-degree forgery an exploitation of the elderly.
According to Floyd County Jail Records, Manfred Atkins of Skyline Drive in Rome wrote six checks belonging to the elderly victim, totaling $2,630.
The alleged incidents occurred between January 21 and February 15 of this year. 
Woman arrested for cruelty to children

A 34-year old Marietta woman was booked into the Floyd County Jail Monday on a warrant charging her with 2nd-degree cruelty to children.
According to the warrant, Stacey Lynn Sides failed to get medical attention for a 19-month old child who had ingested an unknown amount of Adderall pills.  
Police noticed the child's behavior hours later after they were called to the house on Old Bells Ferry Road for a domestic altercation.  
The child was transported to the hospital and tested positive for the medication.
