Charges of felony fleeing or attempting to elude, speeding, failure to maintain a lane, and passing in a no-passing zone have been filed against a 37-year old Rome man.

According to an arrest warrant on file at the Floyd County Jail, Shaun Blake Salmon, of an East 9th Street address, fled from a Georgia State Trooper who was attempting to make a traffic stop for failure to maintain a lane on Maple Avenue north of East 12th Street back on April 29.

The trooper pursued as Salmon reached speeds of at least 97 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone, and passed multiple vehicles in a no passing zone.

Salmon attempted to pass a vehicle and spun out.

He then drove down a private driveway before stopping and getting away on foot.

Authorities were able to identify Salmon using a prison release ID card that was left in the vehicle.

A passenger also identified Salmon.

Salmon was arrested on May 10 for a probation violation and the additional charges were filed Thursday.
